Obituary for John Willis Argue

John Willis Argue, age 76, of Sugar Land, TX, passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 following complications from Pneumonia. John was born April 10, 1941 in St. Paul, Minnesota.

John earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Houston. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Special Forces (Green Berets). John was passionate about his work and was respected by all who worked with him. His successful career as an Engineering and Construction Manager featured stops at Texaco, Fluor, and HB Zachry. He was an avid sports enthusiast, supporting all of his hometown teams as well as each and every team that rostered his children and grandchildren. Above all else, John was a devoted husband and father. He cared deeply about relationships and approached everything in his life with kindness, humility and optimism.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John Herbert and Olof (Jonasson) Argue; and his beloved sister, Margrethe Jan Argue. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda Latiolais Argue; and his children, Catherine Harris (Craig), John Thomas Argue (Jennifer), Susan LeJeune (Jay). He is also survived by his sister, Judy Argue Meloy (John); along with nine grandchildren, Evan, Abigail and Jacob Harris, Hannah, John Michael, Joseph and Adam Argue, and Zachary and Anthony LeJeune.

The family wishes to thank the staff of the Michael E. Debakey VA Medical Center Spinal Cord Unit for the excellent care provided to John. Additionally, the family wishes to express a very special thanks and appreciation for John's long-time caregiver, listener, puzzle-maker and friend, Tonya McCree.


A Memorial Mass in John’s honor will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Monday, February 19, 2018, at St. Laurence Catholic Church, 3100 Sweetwater Blvd, Sugar Land, TX 77479. Immediately following, friends are invited to greet the family during a reception in the Parish Hall. In lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to “St. Laurence Catholic Church Social Concerns,” at the address above.
