Kathleen (Kathy) O’Brien, peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, following a short illness.
Kathy, a native Houstonian, was a sweet and caring soul who always had a kind word for others. Born on the 4th of July 1950, she was a graduate of Reagan High School and retired from MD Anderson Cancer Center’s Children’s Art Project in 2016.
Kathy was preceded in death by her father, Donald O’Brien; her dear Aunt Marie and Uncle Jessie “Honey Boy” Taylor. She is survived her mother, Lillian Robinson; close cousin, Darlene Taylor; and cousins, Donna Marks and Donny Herman.
Kathy was a proud and supportive member of Beta Sigma Phi Houston City Council since October 1970, an active member for 47 years.
Special appreciation to her devoted Beta Sigma Phi sisters for their lifelong friendship to Kathy and her mother, an honorary Beta Sigma Phi member. Thanks also to Kathy’s longtime veterinarian Cara Campbell Doleski for the many years of friendship and service to the family.
A celebration of Kathy's life will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, the 5th of April, in the Chapel at Houston's First Baptist Church, 7401 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas, 77024.
