Obituary for Joseph Andreas Thong

Joseph Andreas Thong also known as Wahjudi Tunggadjaja, passed away on Tuesday, the 6th of March 2018 in Sugar Land, TX. He was born to Ali Tunggadjaja and Neny Arlina Pangestu the 12th of July 1962 in Tangerang, Indonesia.

Joseph attended the University of Houston and received his B.S. in Computer Science and his MBA. He also met his beloved wife Julia while attending and were married for 30 years. After earning his degrees, he held positions at Houston Cellular, UPS, Thompson and Knight.

He was also a member of St. Laurence Catholic Church for 6 years. Family and friends will remember him by his love for cooking large meals and celebrating with family. He also enjoyed gardening, reading, fishing, cruising, family vacations and discussing politics.

Joseph is predeceased by his father, Ali Tunggadjaja of Jakarta, Indonesia. He is survived by his wife, Julia Thong; daughters, Olivia Thong and Claudia Thong of Sugar Land, Texas, USA. He is also survived by his mother, Neny Arlina Pangestu and his siblings, Ratna Tunggadjaja, Hudiono Tunggadjaja, Lukita Tunggadjaja, and Jujun Tunggadjaja of Jakarta & Tangerang, Indonesia.

The family would like to recognize the doctors and nurses at MD Anderson Hospital for their care and compassion as well as Harbor Hospice for the care given to Joseph during his battle with gall bladder cancer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, the 12th of March at 2:00 p.m. CST, in the Chapel of Divine Mercy at St. Laurence Catholic Church, 3100 Sweetwater Blvd., Sugar Land, TX 77479. Prior to the Mass, a viewing will take place at 1:30 p.m. CST. Masses and Prayers are also being held in Jakarta, Indonesia by the family.
